Dynamic Growth in Southeast Asia Ports
To date in 2015, there have been nearly 1,700 cruise ship calls at the destination ports located in the five Southeast Asia countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. Of these, three quarters were transit and overnight port calls. This figure indicates strong positive growth in recent years
and reveals a healthy future for the market in Asia. In particular, Southeast Asia’s cruise market continues to exhibit great potential, in 2014 alone, ports in Malaysia and Singapore each generated over one million passenger and cruise visit days.
Malaysia had the highest number of transit and total calls (35% of transit port calls and 30% of total cruise ship calls in the region), while Singapore had the highest volume of turnaround calls (63%).
Cruise Asia by Destination Asia is well suited to cater to this accelerated growth by being the only regional shoreside service provider to boast wholly owned offices in each of these Southeast Asia destinations, including the lesser traveled but geographically important ports in Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Jakarta in
Java and Phuket in Thailand.
