Update on Komodo Island Restrictions

Our Managing Director Indonesia, I Ketut Sediya Yasa, reports from Seatrade Global in Miami, the Indonesian government has announced that, starting this month it will create a special force from several stakeholders to assess Komodo National Park. One of the key aims is to research and report on the population of Komodo Dragon on the Island. The results of the assessment work is expected to be ready in July, with a decision on the closure based on the recommendation from this.

For the time being, the government has guaranteed that Komodo National Park will not be closed before the end of the year.

Cruise Asia by Destination Asia fully supports the planned restrictions regarding rules around tourism activities, such as tracking, snorkelling and diving that are put in place to ensure the sustainability of the ecosystem for future generations.
